Where do I even begin? Four and a half years ago, I finally put aside my fear and joined Mark Fisher Fitness. I had heard rumblings of this weird little fitness spot wrapped up in the trappings of theatre people, and not until I saw a friend’s transformation firsthand did I understand the power of MFF.
Joining as a regular ninja was the first step, as I knew that members had priority access to Snatched registration and I wanted to get in on the six-week jumpstart journey to health and hotness.
Fast forward to springtime 2017 and I had not been active for something like six months to a year. I was uncomfortable in my body, out of breath taking the subway steps two at a time, and struggling carrying groceries home. I needed a change.
Seeing another friend doing Snatched was the inspiration to get my ass back to MFF and make my body a priority again. This time around my goals were different – it wasn’t about changing my body drastically to get hot and tight, it was about strength and stamina.
Snatched is a process that I have been through before, so I knew that I could do it again. I altered my outlook from “must follow the rules to the letter to change the way I look” to something more like “how can I make strength and stamina a priority while still enjoying my bourbon and wine and burgers and s’mores?”
And by changing how I approached the program, I changed how I approached working out. It became a tool for longevity and health, something that I do for me and not for anyone else.
I’m looking forward to continuing the priority – and to upping the weight on my deadlifts!!
